Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, jack and jack stands, torque wrench, steering wheel puller (if necessary).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off. Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental steering wheel movement.
2. Inspect Steering Components
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels to gain access to the steering and suspension components.
  • Check tie rod ends for play by grasping them and moving them back and forth. Replace if worn.
  • Inspect the steering rack for any signs of fluid leaks or damage.
3. Check and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir and check the fluid level.
  • If low, fill with manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid. If fluid is contaminated, drain and replace.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to purge air from the system.
4. Inspect and Adjust Wheel Alignment
  • Use a wheel alignment machine to check alignment specifications.
  • Adjust toe, camber, and caster as needed according to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reattach the front wheels and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reconnect the battery and lower the vehicle.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure steering feels firm and responsive.
