Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery if working on electronic brake components.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts with a socket wrench.
  2. Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  1. Remove the caliper bolts using a socket wrench.
  2. Slide the caliper off the brake rotor and support it with a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake hose).
  3. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  4. Clean the caliper bracket and inspect for any debris.
  5. Compress the caliper piston using a brake caliper tool to make room for new pads.
  6. Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are oriented correctly.
  7. Reattach the caliper, tightening the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
4. Replace or Resurface Rotors (if necessary)
  1. If rotors are worn or warped, remove them by unscrewing the retaining screws and sliding them off the hub.
  2. If resurfacing, take rotors to a machine shop; otherwise, install new rotors.
  3. Clean the new rotors with brake cleaner to remove any protective oil.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  3. Reconnect the battery if it was disconnected.
  4. Pump the brake pedal a few times to ensure proper brake engagement before driving.
