Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel.
4. Remove the Ball Joint
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, ball joint separator.
  • Remove the nut securing the ball joint to the control arm using the appropriate socket.
  • Use a ball joint separator to detach the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
  • If necessary, remove any additional components obstructing access.
5. Install New Ball Joint
  • Position the new ball joint in place and secure it with the nut. Torque the nut to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 40-60 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect any components that were removed during disassembly.
6. Reassemble
  • Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specification (typically 80-100 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the battery.
