Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to prevent movement.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to expose the shock absorber.
4. Remove the Old Shock Absorber
  • Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber.
  • Use a socket set to remove the lower mounting bolt first, then the upper mounting bolt.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mount.
5. Install the New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber into the mount.
  • Insert and hand-tighten the upper mounting bolt first, followed by the lower mounting bolt.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 30-40 Nm for upper and 50-60 Nm for lower, but verify in the service manual).
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 120 Nm).
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle with the floor jack.
8. Repeat for Other Shocks
  • Repeat steps 2-7 for the remaining shock absorbers as needed.
