Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, dielectric grease, feeler gauge.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting the procedure.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket wrench to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils above each spark plug.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling them off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using the socket wrench.
  • Gently pull each ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket and ratchet, carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect each spark plug for signs of wear or fouling.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary to meet manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.028-0.031 inches).
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threaded portion of each spark plug.
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer's specified torque (usually around 13-15 lb-ft) using a torque wrench.
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply dielectric grease to the bottom of each ignition coil to ensure good electrical contact.
  • Reinsert each ignition coil into its respective spark plug well and secure with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
