Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
  • Remove any clutter from the work area.
2. Recharge Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant canister, refrigerant scale.
  • Connect the manifold gauge set to the low and high-pressure service ports.
  • Start the engine and turn the AC to maximum cold.
  • Measure the system's pressure; if it's low, attach the refrigerant canister to the low-pressure port.
  • Slowly add refrigerant until the proper pressure is reached, as specified in the service manual.
  • Disconnect the manifold gauge set and replace the caps on the service ports.
3. Inspect and Replace AC Compressor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, serpentine belt tool.
  • If the compressor is faulty, remove the serpentine belt by using a serpentine belt tool to relieve tension.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the AC compressor.
  • Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the compressor from the engine bay.
  • Install the new AC compressor by reversing the removal steps, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the manufacturer’s specifications.
4. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: None specific, but a flathead screwdriver may be needed for clips.
  • Locate the cabin air filter access panel, usually behind the glove compartment.
  • Remove the panel and take out the old cabin air filter.
  • Insert the new cabin air filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  • Reattach the access panel securely.
5. Electrical System Check
  • Tools Required: Multimeter.
  • Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the AC clutch connector while the AC is on.
  • If no voltage is present, trace the wiring back to the AC control module and check for continuity or shorts.
  • Repair any wiring issues found and replace any blown fuses.
