Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Light Bulbs
  • Open the rear trunk and locate the tail light assembly.
  • Remove the tail light assembly by unscrewing the retaining screws.
  • Pull the assembly out gently and locate the brake light bulb socket.
  • Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly, then pull out the old bulb.
  • Insert the new brake light bulb, ensuring it is securely seated.
  • Reinstall the bulb socket and tail light assembly, securing it with screws.
3. Check and Replace Brake Light Fuse
  • Locate the fuse box in the engine compartment or under the dashboard (refer to the owner's manual).
  • Identify the brake light fuse using the fuse box diagram.
  • Pull the fuse out using a fuse puller tool and inspect it for continuity; replace if it is blown.
  • Insert the new fuse back into the correct slot.
4. Test Brake Light Switch
  • Locate the brake light switch mounted near the brake pedal.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch.
  • Use a multimeter to check for continuity; if there is no continuity when the pedal is pressed, the switch needs to be replaced.
  • To replace, remove the switch by unscrewing it from its mount and install the new switch.
