Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if it has been driven recently.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Tools Required: Floor jack, jack stands
  • Lift the front or rear of the vehicle depending on where the shaking is felt. Secure with jack stands.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors
  • Remove the wheel using a socket set.
  • Remove the caliper by unbolting it (usually two bolts).
  • Suspend the caliper safely without stressing the brake line.
  • Remove the brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Inspect the rotor for warping using a dial indicator. If warped, replace the rotor.
  • If replacing, use a torque wrench to tighten the rotor bolts to the manufacturer specification (typically around 75-100 lb-ft, check specific values).
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Check the thickness of the brake pads. If less than 3mm, replace them.
  • Clean the caliper and bracket with brake cleaner.
  • Apply anti-squeal lubricant to the back of the new pads.
  • Reinstall the brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and rotor. Torque the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque lug nuts to specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
