Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues.
2. Locate the Leak
  • Use a clean cloth to wipe any visible oil from suspected areas.
  • If using UV dye, add it to the oil and run the engine for a few minutes before inspecting with a UV light.
3. Replace Damaged Components

A. Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper
  • Remove the bolts securing the oil pan using a socket.
  • Carefully pry the oil pan away from the engine block.
  • Clean the surface of the engine block and the oil pan using a gasket scraper.
  • Apply a new gasket to the oil pan and reinstall it, tightening bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque values.

B. Oil Filter Replacement

  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Lubricate the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter with fresh oil.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten slightly more (do not overtighten).

C. Replace Oil Drain Plug

  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • If the oil drain plug is damaged, remove it using a socket.
  • Install a new oil drain plug with a new washer to prevent leaks.
  • Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
4. Refill Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil fill cap and pour in the specified type and amount of engine oil.
  • Replace the oil fill cap securely.
