Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the job.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Torque wrench, Transmission fluid, Transmission filter kit, Oil drain pan, Funnel, Safety gloves.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the engine is off and cooled down before starting work. Always wear safety gloves to protect from sharp edges and fluids.
2. Drain the Transmission Fluid
  • Position the oil drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using the socket set, starting from the rear and moving forward.
  • Carefully lower the pan to allow the fluid to drain completely into the pan.
3. Remove the Transmission Filter
  • Once the pan is removed, locate the transmission filter.
  • Remove any screws or clips securing the filter in place.
  • Carefully pull the filter straight down to avoid damaging the filter housing.
4. Install New Transmission Filter
  • Take the new filter from the kit and align it with the mounting points.
  • Secure the filter with screws or clips, ensuring it fits snugly without any leaks.
5. Reinstall the Transmission Pan
  • Clean the mating surfaces of the transmission and the pan thoroughly.
  • Place a new gasket on the transmission pan or apply a bead of RTV silicone sealant, if required.
  • Reattach the transmission pan and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque values.
6. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Use a funnel to add new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
  • Check the vehicle’s manual for the correct type and amount of fluid required.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle, then cycle through the gears while checking fluid levels again.
