Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, oil filter wrench, oil catch pan, rags, UV dye (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using the socket wrench and allow the oil to fully drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 20-25 lb-ft).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten according to the manufacturer's guidelines (usually 3/4 turn after the O-ring contacts the base).
4. Inspect and Replace Gaskets/Seals
  • If leaks are found at the timing cover or oil pan, remove any components obstructing access.
  • Remove the old gasket or seal carefully using a scraper or solvent.
  • Clean the surfaces thoroughly and ensure they are free of debris.
  • Apply a new gasket or sealant as per the manufacturer's specifications and reassemble the components.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil fill cap and pour in the recommended type and amount of new engine oil.
  • Replace the oil fill cap securely.
6. Final Check
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Check for leaks around the replaced components and ensure proper oil pressure.
