Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and support it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel nuts using a socket set and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Components

A. Inspect Brake Rotors

  • Measure rotor thickness and check for warping using a dial indicator.
  • If warped or below specification, remove the rotor by loosening the retaining screws and sliding it off the hub.

B. Replace Brake Pads

  • Remove the caliper bolts with a socket set and carefully slide the caliper off the rotor.
  • Remove old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install new brake pads, ensuring they are correctly positioned.

C. Reinstall or Replace Rotors

  • If rotors were replaced, install new rotors on the hub and secure them with retaining screws.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new rotor and tighten caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specification.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Test brake function by pressing the brake pedal several times to seat the pads.
