Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap.
  • Use a funnel to add the recommended oil type if the oil level is low (refer to owner's manual for specifications).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter (if necessary)
  • Position a drain pan under the oil filter.
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new filter by hand, tightening it according to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Test Oil Pressure
  • Remove the oil pressure sending unit using the appropriate socket.
  • Install the oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit.
  • Start the engine and observe the oil pressure reading. It should be within normal operating range (usually between 25-65 psi).
  • If the pressure is low, further investigation is needed, which may include checking the oil pump.
5. Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit (if faulty)
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sending unit.
  • Remove the sending unit using the appropriate socket.
  • Install the new sending unit and reconnect the electrical connector.
6. Reassemble and Reconnect
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and check for any oil leaks around the oil filter and sending unit.
  • Ensure the oil pressure warning light is no longer illuminated.
