my Volvo XC90's dashboard lights keep flickering, what's causing this?

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools required: multimeter, OBD-II scanner, socket set, and cleaning supplies.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.

2. Battery Terminal Inspection

• Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal using a wrench.
• Inspect the positive (+) and negative terminals for corrosion, clean if necessary with a battery terminal cleaner.
• Tighten the connections securely before reconnecting the battery.

3. Battery and Alternator Test

• Reconnect the battery and start the engine.
• Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage.
  • If below 12.6V, replace the battery.
• With the engine running, measure the alternator output.
  • If the output is below 13.7V, consider replacing the alternator.

4. Wiring and Ground Connections
