Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Check and Refill Coolant
  • Tools Required: Coolant, funnel, gloves.
  • Inspect the coolant reservoir; if low, refill with the appropriate coolant mixture (50% water and 50% antifreeze).
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature, then check for leaks.
3. Replace Thermostat (if faulty)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, new thermostat, gasket, coolant.
  • Drain the coolant from the radiator.
  • Remove the thermostat housing by unscrewing the bolts and gently lifting it off.
  • Remove the old thermostat and clean the mating surfaces.
  • Install the new thermostat with a new gasket and reassemble the housing, tightening bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Refill the coolant and bleed the system of air.
4. Inspect and Replace Heater Control Valve
  • Tools Required: Pliers, wrench set.
  • Locate the heater control valve; disconnect the hoses attached to it.
  • Remove the valve and inspect it for any signs of blockage or damage.
  • Replace with a new heater control valve if necessary; ensure proper hose connections.
5. Verify and Clean Heater Core
  • Tools Required: Hose, flush kit (optional).
  • Disconnect the heater core hoses from the engine compartment.
  • Flush the heater core with clean water to remove any debris or blockages.
  • Reconnect the hoses securely and check for leaks.
