Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely supported on jack stands.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Identify and Repair Oil Leak Source

A. Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

  1. Drain the engine oil using a drain pan.
  2. Remove the oil pan bolts using a socket set.
  3. Carefully pry the oil pan off the engine block.
  4. Clean the mating surfaces on the engine and oil pan.
  5. Apply a new gasket or gasket maker as specified.
  6. Reinstall the oil pan and tighten bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.

B. Valve Cover Gasket Replacement

  1. Remove any components obstructing access to the valve cover (e.g., air intake duct).
  2. Unbolt the valve cover using a socket set.
  3. Remove the old gasket and clean the surfaces.
  4. Place the new gasket in position and reinstall the valve cover.
  5. Tighten bolts to the specified torque.

C. Front or Rear Main Seal Replacement

  1. For the front seal, remove the timing belt or chain as necessary.
  2. Remove the harmonic balancer using a puller.
  3. Pry out the old seal and install the new one, ensuring it is seated properly.
  4. Reassemble the components in reverse order.
  5. For the rear main seal, remove the transmission as necessary to access the seal.
  6. Replace the old seal with a new one and reassemble the transmission.
3. Refill Engine Oil
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and quantity of oil as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
