Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
2. Inspect and Clean Wheel Speed Sensors
  • Remove the wheel where the ABS sensor needs inspection using a socket set.
  • Disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector.
  • Clean the sensor with brake cleaner to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Inspect the sensor for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
  • Reconnect the sensor and secure it properly.
3. Replace Faulty ABS Fuse/Relay
  • Locate the fuse box and identify the ABS fuse based on the owner's manual.
  • Remove the faulty fuse with a fuse puller and replace it with a new one of the same amperage.
  • If the relay is faulty, remove it and replace it with a new one from the parts store.
4. Repair or Replace ABS Control Module
  • Unplug the ABS control module connector.
  • Check for corrosion or dirt; clean the contacts if necessary.
  • If the module is determined to be faulty, remove it by unscrewing the mounting bolts and disconnecting the hydraulic lines.
  • Install the new control module by reversing the removal steps and ensure all connections are secure.
5. Brake Fluid Check and Replacement
  • Open the brake fluid reservoir and check the fluid level.
  • If the fluid is contaminated, siphon out the old fluid using a turkey baster.
  • Refill the reservoir with the recommended brake fluid type (DOT 4).
  • Bleed the brakes to remove any air in the system.
