Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues while working on the vehicle.
  • Gather tools: floor jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, and a screwdriver.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to raise the front or rear of the vehicle (depending on which struts are being replaced).
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Repeat this for the other side if replacing front and rear struts.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Locate the strut mounting bolts at the top and bottom of the strut assembly.
  • Use a socket set to remove the lower strut bolts (may require holding the bolt head with a wrench).
  • Remove the upper strut mounting nuts from inside the engine bay or rear trunk area.
  • Carefully remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
5. Replace Strut Assembly
  • Use a strut spring compressor to compress the coil spring on the old strut.
  • Once compressed, remove the top strut nut and carefully take off the coil spring.
  • Install the coil spring onto the new strut assembly in the same orientation as it was on the old strut.
  • Reinstall the top strut nut and ensure it is tightened to the manufacturer's torque specification.
6. Install New Strut Assembly
  • Position the new strut assembly in place of the old one.
  • Reinstall the upper strut mounting nuts and torque to specification.
  • Reattach the lower strut bolts and torque them to specification.
7. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
8. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Ensure all tools are removed from the vehicle.
