Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Ratchet
    • Torque wrench
    • Serpentine belt tool or long-handled wrench
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the battery before starting work to prevent electrical shock.
    • Ensure the engine is cool before beginning the replacement.
2. Access the Serpentine Belt
  • Open the hood and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram, usually found on a sticker near the front of the engine compartment.
  • Remove any engine covers if necessary using a socket set.
3. Release Tension on the Belt
  • Use a serpentine belt tool or a long-handled wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise, relieving tension on the belt.
  • Carefully slide the belt off one of the driven pulleys while holding the tensioner in position.
4. Remove the Old Serpentine Belt
  • Once the belt is loose, completely remove it from the engine by sliding it off all pulleys according to the routing diagram.
5. Install the New Serpentine Belt
  • Refer to the routing diagram to position the new serpentine belt around the pulleys.
  • Ensure the belt is seated properly in the grooves of all pulleys.
6. Reapply Tension
  • Use the serpentine belt tool to rotate the tensioner again, allowing the belt to be placed back onto the tensioner pulley.
  • Release the tensioner slowly to apply tension to the new belt.
7. Final Checks
  • Inspect the belt alignment and ensure it is properly seated on all pulleys.
  • Reinstall any engine covers that were removed.
