Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint separator (pickle fork)
  • Hammer
  • Grease gun (if ball joints are greaseable)
  • Safety glasses and gloves
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Lift the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Fully remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Ball Joint
  • If applicable, remove the cotter pin from the ball joint nut using pliers.
  • Use the socket wrench to remove the ball joint nut.
  • Insert the ball joint separator between the ball joint and the control arm and tap it gently with a hammer to separate the ball joint from the control arm.
