Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Fuel injector cleaning kit, safety goggles, gloves, socket set, torque wrench, rags.
  • Ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical issues.
  • Relieve the fuel system pressure by locating the fuel pump relay in the fuse box and removing it, then starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail using the appropriate tools.
  • Remove the electrical connectors from each fuel injector carefully.
  • Unscrew the fuel rail bolts and lift the fuel rail along with the injectors out of the engine.
  • Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail by pulling them straight out.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  • Attach the fuel injector cleaning kit to the fuel injectors.
  • Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning kit, usually involving connecting a pressurized canister of cleaning solvent to the injectors.
  • Cycle the cleaning solvent through the injectors according to the kit’s instructions, allowing sufficient time for the solvent to clean each injector thoroughly.
4. Reinstall Fuel Injectors
  • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of the fuel injectors to ensure a proper seal.
  • Reinsert the cleaned injectors back into the fuel rail until they click into place.
  • Reattach the fuel rail to the engine, tightening the bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines.
5. Final Steps
  • Reinstall the fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the injectors and fuel rail.
