Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials needed for cleaning.
  • Tools Required:
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Fuel injector cleaning kit
    • Socket set
    • Screwdrivers
    • Cloth for cleaning
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Relieve fuel pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable to access the fuel rail.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  • Remove the bolts securing the fuel rail using a socket set.
  • Carefully lift the fuel rail off the engine, pulling the injectors from their seats.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  • Attach the fuel injector cleaning kit to the fuel rail where the fuel injectors were removed.
  • Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning kit to introduce the cleaning solvent into the fuel injectors.
  • Use compressed air to help clear out the cleaning solvent after the cleaning cycle is completed.
  • Visually inspect the injectors for any remaining deposits and repeat cleaning if necessary.
4. Reassemble Components
  • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of the fuel injectors to ensure a proper seal.
  • Reinsert the fuel injectors into the fuel rail and press firmly until seated.
  • Reattach the fuel rail to the engine and secure with bolts, torquing to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each fuel injector.
5. Reconnect and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Replace the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition to the "ON" position for a few seconds to prime the fuel system.
  • Start the engine and check for any leaks around the injectors.
  • Perform a test drive to ensure engine performance has improved.
