Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Inspect Coolant Level
  • Tools Required: None
  • Check the coolant reservoir and radiator for proper coolant level. If low, top up with the manufacturer-recommended coolant.
3. Replace Thermostat
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper, coolant.
  • Drain the engine coolant from the radiator into a suitable container.
  • Remove the thermostat housing by loosening the bolts with a socket wrench.
  • Carefully remove the old thermostat and gasket. Clean the mating surfaces with a gasket scraper.
  • Install the new thermostat with the correct orientation (ensure the jiggle valve is at the top).
  • Install the new gasket and reattach the thermostat housing. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Refill Coolant
  • Refill the cooling system with the appropriate type and mixture of coolant as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature, checking for leaks.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
