Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and ensure the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during repairs.
2. Addressing the Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, oil catch pan
  • Remove the oil filter using the wrench.
  • Inspect the old oil filter for damage and ensure the rubber O-ring came off with it.
  • Install a new oil filter, applying a small amount of fresh oil to the O-ring before installation.
  • Tighten the oil filter by hand until snug, then give it an additional 3/4 turn.
3. Replacing the Front Crankshaft Seal
  • Tools Required: Socket set, puller, seal installer
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the crankshaft seal, such as the crank pulley.
  • Use a puller to remove the old crankshaft seal carefully.
  • Clean the seal housing and install the new crankshaft seal using a seal installer to ensure proper seating.
  • Reassemble any components removed during the process.
4. Replacing the Valve Cover Gasket
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper
  • Remove the valve cover by unscrewing the bolts and gently lifting it off.
  • Clean the mating surfaces on both the valve cover and the cylinder head.
  • Place a new valve cover gasket onto the valve cover.
  • Reinstall the valve cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 7-10 Nm).
5. Inspecting and Sealing the Oil Pan
  • Tools Required: Socket set, gasket remover, new oil pan gasket
  • Drain the oil and remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts.
  • Inspect for cracks or damage and clean the surface.
  • Replace the old gasket with a new one and reinstall the oil pan.
  • Torque the oil pan bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
