Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack stands, floor jack, pry bar, impact wrench (optional)
  • Safely park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to raise the vehicle and securely place it on jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the shock absorber.
4. Remove the Old Shock Absorber
  • Upper Mount: Locate the upper mounting bolts of the shock absorber inside the vehicle's trunk or under the hood. Use a socket to remove these bolts.
  • Lower Mount: At the bottom of the shock, remove the lower mounting bolt using the socket set. A pry bar may be needed to help free the shock if it is stuck.
5. Install the New Shock Absorber
  • Position the New Shock: Align the new shock absorber in place, starting with the lower mount.
  • Secure the Lower Mount: Insert the lower mounting bolt and tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications (check the manual for torque values).
  • Secure the Upper Mount: Raise the upper portion of the shock into position and secure it with the bolts. Tighten to specifications.
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the floor jack.
7. Final Tightening
  • Once the vehicle is on the ground, use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque value.
