Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Use wheel chocks to secure the tires.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety while working underneath.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Store the lug nuts in a safe place to avoid losing them.
4. Remove the Shock Absorber
  • Locate the top mounting bolts of the shock absorber inside the vehicle's trunk or under the rear seat (for rear shocks).
  • Use a ratchet and socket to remove the top bolts.
  • Locate and remove the bottom mounting bolt on the shock absorber using a wrench.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mounting position.
5. Install New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber in place.
  • Insert and loosely tighten the bottom mounting bolt to hold the shock absorber in place.
  • Reinstall and tighten the top mounting bolts to the specified torque (consult the vehicle’s service manual for torque specifications).
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts to secure the wheel, then lower the vehicle slightly to allow for torqueing.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground using the hydraulic jack.
8. Final Inspection
  • After installation, visually inspect the shock absorbers for proper fitment and signs of leaks.
  • Ensure all tools and parts are removed from the work area.
