Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Tools Required: Oil dipstick, funnel, engine oil
  • Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert, and pull it out again to check the oil level.
  • If low, add the appropriate engine oil until the level is correct.
3. Inspect for Leaks
  • Tools Required: Rags, flashlight
  • Check around the oil pan, oil filter, and engine seals for signs of oil leaks. Clean any residue and observe for new leaks after running the engine.
4. Replace Oil Filter (if clogged)
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, oil catch pan
  • Place the oil catch pan underneath the oil filter.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter, allowing any residual oil to drain into the pan.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter, then install it by hand until snug.
5. Replace Engine Oil (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench, oil catch pan
  • Remove the oil drain plug using the appropriate socket/wrench and allow old oil to drain completely into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (usually around 25-30 Nm).
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and amount of new engine oil.
6. Inspect Oil Pressure Sending Unit
  • Tools Required: Multimeter
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sending unit.
  • Use a multimeter to check for continuity and resistance as per the manufacturer's specifications. Replace if faulty.
