Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: oil catch pan, socket set, wrench set, oil filter wrench, new oil filter, new oil, rags, and UV dye if needed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Inspect and Tighten
  • Oil Pan

    • Check the oil pan bolts for tightness and torque to manufacturer specifications (typically 16-22 ft-lbs).
    • If leaks persist, consider replacing the oil pan gasket.
  • Oil Filter

    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter.
    • Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
    • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber O-ring on the new filter and install it, tightening by hand.
3. Replace Worn Gaskets and Seals
  • Valve Cover Gasket

    • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
    • Unbolt the valve cover and remove it carefully.
    • Replace the old gasket with a new one, ensuring a proper fit.
    • Reinstall the valve cover and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Main Seals

    • If the front or rear main seals are leaking, the engine will need to be partially disassembled to replace these seals.
    • Remove the necessary components (timing belt or chain, flywheel, etc.) to access the seals.
    • Replace the seals and reassemble the engine, following the torque specifications for each component.
