Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the engine.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before proceeding.
2. Inspect and Replace Gaskets
  • Oil Filter & Drain Plug:

    1. Place an oil catch pan under the oil drain plug.
    2. Remove the oil drain plug and allow oil to drain completely.
    3. Inspect the oil filter for damage, and replace if necessary.
    4. Clean the area around the drain plug and replace the washer if it’s worn.
    5. Reinstall the drain plug with the correct torque (typically around 25 Nm).
  • Valve Cover Gasket:

    1. Remove any engine covers obstructing access to the valve cover.
    2. Unbolt the valve cover using a socket set and remove it.
    3. Clean the valve cover and cylinder head surfaces to ensure a good seal.
    4. Install a new valve cover gasket, ensuring it is seated properly.
    5. Reinstall the valve cover and torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
3. Inspect and Replace Seals
  • Front and Rear Crankshaft Seals:
    1. If oil is found around the crankshaft seals, the front seal may require removal of the harmonic balancer.
    2. Use a puller to remove the harmonic balancer and expose the front seal.
    3. Remove the old seal with a seal puller and install a new one using a seal driver to ensure it is flush.
    4. For the rear seal, access may require removing the transmission. Follow manufacturer specifications for removal and replacement.
4. Check Oil Cooler Lines
  • Inspect the oil cooler lines and connections for leaks.
  • Tighten any loose connections. If damaged, replace the lines with new ones.
