Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Elevate the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
  • Remove the front wheels using a socket set.
3. Inspect and Replace Components

A. Ball Joints

  • Inspection: Check for excessive play by pulling on the ball joint while the suspension is loaded.
  • Replacement:
    1. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the ball joint.
    2. Use a ball joint separator to detach it from the control arm.
    3. Install the new ball joint and secure it with a new nut and cotter pin.

B. Control Arm Bushings

  • Inspection: Look for cracks or missing rubber on the bushings.
  • Replacement:
    1. Remove the control arm's mounting bolts.
    2. Press out the old bushings using a bushing removal tool.
    3. Install the new bushings and reattach the control arm.

C. Strut Mounts

  • Inspection: Check for signs of wear or damage.
  • Replacement:
    1. Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle by unscrewing the strut bolts.
    2. Replace the strut mount and reassemble the strut.
    3. Reinstall the strut assembly securely.
4. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reattach the front wheels using a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 100-120 Nm).
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the battery.
