Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Tools Required:
    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Hammer
    • Bearing puller
    • Grease
    • New wheel bearing kit
2. Remove Wheel and Brake Assembly
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the affected wheel while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle with the jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Remove the brake caliper by unbolting it and hanging it with a bungee cord or wire (do not let it hang by the brake line).
  • Remove the brake rotor.
3. Remove Old Wheel Bearing
  • Remove the dust cap or retaining ring if present using a hammer and punch.
  • Use the bearing puller to extract the old wheel bearing from the wheel hub assembly.
  • Clean the hub assembly and inspect for damage.
4. Install New Wheel Bearing
  • Apply a thin layer of grease to the new wheel bearing.
  • Position the new bearing into the hub assembly and press it in using the bearing puller until fully seated.
  • Reinstall the dust cap or retaining ring.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the brake rotor and secure it.
  • Reinstall the brake caliper and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Torque Lug Nuts
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specified torque settings.
