Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors
  • Remove the engine cover if necessary to access the oxygen sensor.
  • Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Clean any corroded connectors with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect securely.
3. Replace Oxygen Sensor
  • Tools Required: Oxygen sensor socket, torque wrench, ratchet and extension, socket set.
  • Locate the upstream oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold or downpipe.
  • Using an oxygen sensor socket, carefully unscrew the faulty sensor from its position.
  • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new oxygen sensor (if not pre-applied).
  • Install the new oxygen sensor, tightening it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 30-35 Nm).
4. Reconnect Battery and Clear Codes
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Use an OBD-II scanner to clear the P0130 code and any other stored codes.
5. Test Drive
  • Take the vehicle for a test drive under varied conditions to ensure proper operation.
  • Monitor the check engine light and ensure it does not re-illuminate.
