Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the wheel nuts.
  • Remove the wheel to access the ball joint.
3. Inspect Ball Joint
  • Visually inspect the ball joint for any damage or excessive wear.
  • Check for torn rubber boots and the presence of grease.
4. Replace Ball Joint (if worn)

a. Disconnect Suspension Components

  • Remove any components connected to the ball joint, such as the tie rod end or control arm.
  • Use a wrench or socket set to remove the bolts securing the ball joint to the control arm and steering knuckle.

b. Remove Old Ball Joint

  • Use a ball joint separator tool to detach the ball joint from the steering knuckle if necessary.
  • Pull out the old ball joint from the control arm.

c. Install New Ball Joint

  • Insert the new ball joint into the control arm.
  • Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.

d. Reconnect Suspension Components

  • Reattach any components that were removed, ensuring all bolts are torqued properly.
5. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then fully torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
