Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Gather necessary tools: jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, and measuring tape.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Using a jack, lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety while working underneath.
3. Inspect Suspension Components
  • Shocks/Struts: Remove any covers if necessary and visually inspect for leaks or damage.
  • Control Arms: Check for cracks or rust. Ensure bushings are intact and not cracked.
  • Ball Joints: Wiggle the wheel by hand to check for excessive play in the ball joints.
  • Springs: Inspect the coil springs for any signs of sagging or breakage.
4. Replace Damaged Components
  • If any suspension components are found to be damaged:
    • Shocks/Struts Replacement:
      1. Remove the wheel.
      2. Disconnect any bolts securing the shock/strut to the wheel hub and the top mount.
      3. Install the new shock/strut, securing it in place and tightening to manufacturer’s torque specifications.
    • Control Arm Replacement:
      1. Remove the wheel and disconnect the ball joint and bolts securing the control arm.
      2. Install the new control arm and secure it with proper torque.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Torque the wheel lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
