Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Drain pan
    • Funnel
    • Rags or paper towels
    • Jack and jack stands (or ramps)
  • Parts Required:
    • Engine oil (recommended type and capacity)
    • New oil filter
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Allow the engine to cool before starting the oil change.
    • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the drain plug with a socket wrench, allowing the oil to fully drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s torque specification (usually around 20-30 Nm).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Be careful as it may still contain oil.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil on the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it until snug (avoid over-tightening).
5. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Use a funnel to pour in the new engine oil as per the owner's manual specifications (usually 5-7 quarts).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for leaks around the drain plug and oil filter.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes, then check the oil level using the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the recommended level.
