Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Gather tools and safety equipment, including gloves and safety glasses.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Transmission dipstick, funnel, clean rag.
  • Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the fluid level.
  • If low, add the appropriate transmission fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
3. Change Transmission Fluid and Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fluid catch pan, new transmission fluid, new transmission filter, and gasket.
  • Raise the vehicle using jack stands to safely access the transmission.
  • Place a fluid catch pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts and carefully lower the pan to drain the fluid.
  • Replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring the new gasket is properly seated.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 10-12 ft-lbs).
4. Reset TCM
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner.
  • Connect the OBD-II scanner and navigate to the transmission control module.
  • Clear any fault codes and reset the TCM to allow it to relearn the shift patterns.
5. Test Drive
  • Start the vehicle and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Conduct a test drive to evaluate the transmission performance and ensure the slipping issue is resolved.
