Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and safely secured with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Tools Required: Fluid siphon, funnel, power steering fluid.
  • Remove the cap from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Use a siphon to remove old fluid from the reservoir.
  • Clean the reservoir with a lint-free cloth.
  • Fill the reservoir with the appropriate type of power steering fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
3. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, torque wrench, new power steering pump.
  • Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump by loosening the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the power steering lines from the pump.
  • Unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket and carefully remove it.
  • Install the new power steering pump, ensuring all bolts are torqued to specifications.
  • Reconnect the power steering lines and reinstall the drive belt.
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Tools Required: A helper (optional).
  • With the engine off, fill the power steering reservoir to the appropriate level.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to remove air bubbles.
  • Check the fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.
