Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Screwdriver set
    • Multimeter
    • Cleaning cloth
    • Headlight bulb replacement tools (if needed)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shock.
2. Inspect and Replace Headlight Bulbs
  • Remove the headlight assembly cover (if applicable) using a screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the headlight bulb.
  • Remove the old bulb by turning it counterclockwise and gently pulling it out.
  • Insert the new bulb (ensure it is the correct type for the XC60) and secure it by turning it clockwise.
  • Reconnect the wiring harness and replace the headlight assembly cover.
3. Clean Headlight Lens
  • Use a cleaning cloth or headlight restoration kit to clean the outer surface of the headlight lens.
  • If the lens is heavily oxidized, consider using a restoration kit that includes sanding and polishing compounds.
4. Check Electrical Connections
  • Inspect the ground connection for the headlights, ensuring it is free from corrosion and securely fastened.
  • Use the multimeter to check for continuity and voltage drop at the headlight connector. If voltage is low, trace the wiring back to the battery and check for any breaks or shorts.
5. Replace Headlight Relay (if necessary)
  • Locate the headlight relay in the fuse box (refer to the owner’s manual for the exact location).
  • Remove the relay by pulling it straight out of the socket.
  • Install the new relay by inserting it firmly into the socket.
