Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, C-clamp or brake caliper tool, torque wrench.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels slightly without removing them.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Using the jack, lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts on the back of the caliper.
  • Using a socket wrench, remove the caliper bolts and carefully slide the caliper off the disc.
  • Support the caliper using a bungee cord or similar to avoid stressing the brake line.
4. Replace the Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Compare the old pads with the new ones to ensure correct sizing.
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to reduce noise and prevent sticking.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Compress the Brake Caliper
  • Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing.
  • Ensure the piston is fully seated to allow room for the new pads.
6. Reinstall the Brake Caliper
  • Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  • Reinstall and tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications (usually around 25-35 ft-lbs).
7. Reassemble and Finalize
  • Reinstall the front wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands using the jack.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque (typically around 100-110 ft-lbs).
