Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • 10mm socket wrench
    • Throttle body cleaner
    • Soft cloth or clean rags
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove the Air Intake Hose
  • Loosen the hose clamps securing the air intake hose to the throttle body using a flathead screwdriver or socket wrench.
  • Carefully detach the hose from the throttle body and set it aside.
3. Remove the Throttle Body
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the release tab and pulling it out.
  • Remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold using a 10mm socket wrench. Keep track of the bolts for reinstallation.
  • Gently pull the throttle body away from the intake manifold, being careful not to damage the gasket.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto the inside surfaces of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and the bore.
  • Use a soft cloth or rag to wipe away carbon deposits and grime. Ensure that the throttle plate can move freely without obstruction.
  • Repeat the cleaning process if necessary until the throttle body is clean.
5. Reinstall the Throttle Body
  • Position a new gasket (if applicable) onto the intake manifold surface.
  • Align the throttle body with the bolt holes and gently push it into place.
  • Reinstall the bolts and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 10-15 ft-lbs, but check the specific service manual for precise values).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the throttle body.
6. Reattach the Air Intake Hose
  • Position the air intake hose back onto the throttle body and secure it with the hose clamps.
  • Ensure everything is tight and properly seated.
7. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tightened securely.
