Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, torque wrench, pry bar, jack stands, and safety gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely lifted with jack stands.
2. Remove Wheels
  • Loosen lug nuts on the front or rear wheels (depending on where noise is suspected).
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and support it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels to access the suspension components.
3. Inspect and Replace Worn Components
  • Ball Joints

    • Remove the cotter pin and nut securing the ball joint.
    • Use a ball joint separator to detach it from the control arm.
    • Install the new ball joint, torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Shock Absorbers

    • Remove the upper mounting bolts and lower bolt securing the shock absorber.
    • Replace the shock absorber with a new unit, ensuring it is properly aligned.
    • Torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Sway Bar Links and Bushings

    • Remove the bolts securing the sway bar links.
    • Inspect and replace any worn bushings.
    • Attach new sway bar links and torque to specifications.
4. Reassemble and Reinstall Wheels
  • Reinstall the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
5. Test Drive
  • Conduct a test drive to ensure the noise has been resolved and that the suspension feels stable.
