Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench, socket set, C-clamp.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Use the jack to lift the rear of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts and use a socket to remove them.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Do not let it dangle from the brake line; support it with a bungee cord or similar method.
  • Inspect the caliper for damage or leaks.
4. Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Compare the new brake pads with the old ones to ensure proper fit.
  • Apply brake grease to the backing of the new pads to prevent noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotor (if necessary)
  • If the rotor is damaged or worn beyond specs, remove it by unscrewing the retaining screws and sliding it off the hub.
  • Install the new rotor, ensuring it is correctly seated.
6. Reassemble the Brakes
  • Reinstall the brake caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  • Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque (typically around 79-97 Nm depending on the model).
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle slightly and remove the jack stands.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and then tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque (usually around 110 Nm).
8. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to establish brake pressure before driving.
