Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and components.
  • Tools Required:
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Multimeter
    • Socket set
    • Screwdrivers
    • Torque wrench
  • Parts Required:
    • Fuel sender unit (if faulty)
    • Wiring harness (if damaged)
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Remove Fuel Pump Access Panel
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical shock.
  • Locate the fuel pump access panel (usually under the rear seat or trunk area).
  • Remove the screws/fasteners securing the access panel and carefully lift it out.
3. Remove Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the pump (use caution as fuel may spill).
  • Remove the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump assembly in place using a special tool or screwdriver.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
4. Inspect and Replace Fuel Sender Unit
  • Inspect the fuel sender unit for damage or corrosion. If faulty, replace it.
  • To replace, disconnect the sender from the pump assembly.
  • Install the new fuel sender unit by reversing the removal process.
  • Ensure that the fuel lines and electrical connections are secure.
5. Reinstall Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Carefully position the fuel pump assembly back into the tank.
  • Secure it with the retaining ring, ensuring it is properly seated.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
6. Reattach Access Panel and Battery
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws/fasteners.
  • Reconnect the vehicle battery.
