Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure it on jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to remove the wheel.
  • Set the wheel aside in a safe location.
4. Remove the CV Joint Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the axle nut using a socket; you may need a breaker bar for leverage.
  • Remove any retaining clips or bolts securing the CV joint to the transmission.
  • Carefully pull the CV joint out of the hub assembly; be cautious of the splines.
5. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Inspect: Examine the CV joint and boot for damage.
  • Replace: If the boot is torn or the joint is worn, replace it with a new CV joint assembly.
    • Ensure to apply a sufficient amount of grease if only the boot is being replaced.
6. Reassemble
  • Slide the new or repaired CV joint back into the hub assembly.
  • Reinstall any retaining clips or bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reattach the axle nut and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications.
7. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
8. Test Drive
  • Start the vehicle and take it for a test drive to ensure the noise is resolved.
