Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if it has been running.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Pan Gasket
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper, drain pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the transmission pan, allowing fluid to drain into the drain pan.
  • Clean the mating surfaces of the transmission and pan with a gasket scraper.
  • Apply a new gasket or RTV sealant as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
4. Inspect and Repair Transmission Lines
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, pliers.
  • Inspect the transmission cooler lines for any signs of damage.
  • If damaged, replace the lines by loosening the fittings with a wrench and removing the old lines.
  • Install new lines, ensuring they are secured tightly to prevent leaks.
5. Replace Input Shaft Seal (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Seal puller, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Remove the transmission from the vehicle if the input shaft seal is leaking.
  • Use a seal puller to remove the old seal from the bell housing.
  • Install a new input shaft seal, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Reassemble the transmission to the vehicle, tightening all bolts to the specified torque.
6. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Funnel, transmission fluid.
  • With the vehicle on a level surface, add the recommended type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel until it reaches the proper level.
  • Start the vehicle and let it idle, shifting through all gears to circulate fluid.
