Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, transmission fluid pump, drain pan, rags for cleaning.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted.
  • Disconnect the battery (negative terminal) for safety.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully lower the pan and allow the fluid to drain completely into the pan.
  • Inspect the fluid for metal shavings or contamination.
3. Inspect and Replace Gasket/Seals
  • Remove the old gasket from the transmission pan and clean the mating surfaces with a scraper.
  • Inspect the input and output shaft seals; if damaged, replace them:
    • Remove the old seals using a seal puller.
    • Install new seals by pressing them into place using a seal installer or a suitable tool.
4. Reinstall the Transmission Pan
  • Place a new gasket onto the cleaned transmission pan.
  • Position the pan back onto the transmission, ensuring it aligns with the bolt holes.
  • Hand-tighten the bolts and then torque them to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 10-12 Nm).
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Using a transmission fluid pump, refill the transmission with the appropriate type and quantity of fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Run the vehicle and cycle through the gears to circulate the fluid, then recheck the fluid level and top off if necessary.
