Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, Phillips screwdriver, fuel injector cleaner, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Rail
  1. Remove any engine covers or components obstructing access to the fuel rail.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the fuel rail using a socket wrench.
  4. Carefully lift the fuel rail off the intake manifold, ensuring not to damage any gaskets or seals.
3. Remove and Clean Fuel Injectors
  1. Carefully pull each fuel injector out of the fuel rail.
  2. Inspect each injector for damage or excessive wear.
  3. Using a fuel injector cleaning solution, soak the injectors in a cleaning bath for the recommended time.
  4. If necessary, use a soft brush to gently clean any stubborn deposits on the injector tip.
  5. Rinse the injectors with clean fuel or cleaner after soaking.
4. Reassemble Fuel System
  1. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the O-rings of the injectors for lubrication.
  2. Insert the cleaned injectors back into the fuel rail, ensuring they seat properly.
  3. Reinstall the fuel rail onto the intake manifold and secure it with bolts, tightening to the specified torque (consult service manual for exact torque value).
  4. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each injector.
  5. Reinstall any engine components removed during disassembly.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  1. Reconnect the battery terminals.
  2. Replace the fuel pump fuse and cycle the ignition to prime the fuel system.
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks around the fuel injectors and rail.
