Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and supplies:
    • Clean lint-free cloth
    • Funnel (if adding fluid)
    • Volvo-approved transmission fluid (if needed)
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is running.
2. Locate and Check the Dipstick
  • Open the hood and secure it with the prop rod.
  • Locate the transmission dipstick (usually color-coded and marked).
  • Pull the dipstick out of its tube.
3. Assess Fluid Level
  • Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the dipstick fully back into its tube.
  • Pull it out again to check the fluid level:
    • The fluid should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks.
    • If the fluid level is low, proceed to add fluid.
4. Add Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • If fluid is low, insert a funnel into the dipstick tube.
  • Add the appropriate Volvo-approved transmission fluid slowly, checking the level frequently to avoid overfilling.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and ensure it is securely in place.
5. Final Check
  • After adding fluid, ensure there are no leaks around the dipstick area.
  • Close the hood securely.
