Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
  • Gather the following tools:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Pliers
    • Timing belt tools (if needed)
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Use a socket set to remove any plastic engine covers obstructing access to the timing belt.
  • Set the covers aside in a safe location.
3. Remove the Old Timing Belt
  • Rotate the engine to TDC (Top Dead Center) on the compression stroke for cylinder #1.
  • Use a socket and ratchet to remove the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley.
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  • Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the timing belt from the camshaft and crankshaft gears.
  • Inspect the tensioner and idler pulleys for wear and replace if necessary.
4. Install the New Timing Belt
  • Align the new timing belt according to the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft gears.
  • Ensure that the belt is taut on the drive side and has slight slack on the tension side.
  • Tighten the tensioner to the specified torque according to the service manual.
5. Reassemble Engine Components
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and secure with the bolt to the manufacturer's torque specification.
  • Replace any removed engine covers.
  • Reconnect the battery.
