Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: socket set, coolant pressure tester, drain pan, funnel, and safety goggles.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
2. Drain the Cooling System
  • Place a drain pan under the radiator.
  • Open the drain valve at the bottom of the radiator and allow the coolant to drain completely.
  • Close the drain valve once drained.
3. Replace Damaged Components
  • Hoses:
    • Identify and remove any damaged hoses using the socket set.
    • Replace with new hoses and secure with clamps. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Radiator:
    • If the radiator is leaking, remove the mounting brackets and disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses.
    • Replace with a new radiator and secure it. Reconnect the hoses and torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Water Pump:
    • If the water pump is leaking, remove the belt and unbolt the water pump.
    • Clean the mating surfaces and install the new water pump, torquing the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Refill the Cooling System
  • Use a funnel to refill the cooling system with the appropriate type of coolant as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes while checking for leaks.
5. Bleed the Cooling System
  • With the engine running, open the bleed valve (if applicable) to release any trapped air in the system.
  • Close the valve once a steady stream of coolant is observed.
